A Colorful Closet

There are many studies behind the psychology of color. But does color really affect human behavior?

For centuries, artists have manipulated color to evoke certain responses from their audiences. Interior designers, advertisers, and others routinely select colors based on how they are believed to affect people.

I personally believe color is a tool you can use to alter your own mood, behavior, and performance. My home has mostly white walls and what I like to call "peaceful" decor. I want to feel stress free in my controlled/uncontrolled environment. I have two children, a new puppy, and a husband. They are all wonderful but, let's just say things are not always in their "place" so to speak.

My closet on the other hand is much different than my home when it comes to color. Just like any other warm blooded woman I have a large section of black, white, and denim. However, I also have a rainbow of red, orange, yellow, green, blue, pink, and purple. Putting on a lavender sweater with a turquoise earring brings me joy. I think I also do this so that those around me feel joy. Not for compliments but to show that I'm fun, approachable, and occasionally silly. Well okay, more than occasionally!

I am not drawn to one color and I am not opposed to a color. Because I am a former elementary school educator I naturally adore primary colors. Pastels, neons, and bold patterns are also some of my personal favorites!

The closet pictured above is not my personal closet however, I will be sharing my closet in a later post. It's a work in progress just like everything you will find here. I do not strive to be perfect and paint a perfect picture. I simply enjoy sharing my colorful finds in hopes to make you smile right along with me!
